Commercial indeed, and the franking is correct: 8 D international surface rate per 20 gr plus 70 D airmail surcharge per 5 gr.
The Greek cds cancelling the stamps is I think Pireaus (a bit hard to read).
Excellent, congratulations!

I now have details of 4 commercial items from Greece to SA by the Graf Zeppelin, all 1934":

1) yours
2) 9th SAF
3) Argentina Flight
4) Christmas Flight.....

Lets see if we can find more commercial mail! ;)

1933 "2 Sudamerikafahrt" (GREEK MAIL)

Beitragvon TALLTREES » 9. Okt 2009, 00:53

Hello again. I enclose a picture of another Postcacrd which you might find interesting. It is "GREEK" Mail sent to "RIO DE JANERO". From what i can make out (i am no expert) it was sent (POSTMARKED 29.V.33 13 ) from "AOHN" in (GREECE) to BERLIN (POSTMARK) "BERLIN C -3.6.33. 5-6 L2" there it got the "RED BERLIN CONNECTING FLIGHT" to "FRIEDRICHSHAFEN", then in Friedrichshafen it was put on the " 2nd SOUTH AMERICA FLIGHT" (AS IT HAS THE GREEN FLIGHT CACHET) and sent to "RIO DE JANERO", it arrived in Rio and got a POSTA RESTANTE "6A SECCAO-RIO" Postmark (-7 VI.33), this Postmark (POSTARANTE) meant that the Postcard had "NOT" been collected, then after "30 DAYS" the Postcard received another "POSTA RESTANTE" Postmark (-7 V11.33) at the same location, as no person collected the Postcard, there is also a Greek Postage Stamp on the back of the Cover with another Postmark on, i can only make out ( ? MAY 33-11 AMON) then it was sent back to the sender by "AIR" :?: to Greece, it has a Greece Backstamp (31. V1133.11), and also it has a "BLUE SLIP" attached to the Back of the Postcard with serial number "7975" this i assume was the "FEE" to be paid by the sender :?: . if the details i have supplied are incorrect "PLEASE" confirm the correct details, and confirm the "SIEGER" catalouge number (MICHEL 305).
Thanks again

(PS) Perhaps this Postcard should come under the 1933 "2 Sudamerikafahrt" section?

Hello Talltrees,

albeit this is a nice looking item, unfortunately is not commercial and as such it doesn't qualify for this thread. It is sent by a certain Mr Zervas who produced a number of philatelic zeppelin covers. You will see that it was sent registered: this ensured that the item would be returned to the sender. The blue receipt form at the back is the sender's registration receipt stating the total of postage paid. The blue 1 drachma postage due at the back was the poste restante fee.

The item was returned to Greece by surface means.

Hope this helps.

Hello alexiosp. I realised when i finished the thread that it was "NOT" Commercial Mail (SORRY), so i have renamed the thread, can you confirm the facts in my thread, and confirm the correct Sieger catalouge number.
Thank you
TALLTREES.
