Zeppelin mail with metered stamps

Beitragvon pasol » 3. Jun 2013, 07:26

Dear friends,

I would want to begin a new thread about Zeppelin mail with metered stamps. :D
According Sieger's catalog using the metered stamps for Zeppelin mail in Germany started in the main from 3rd SAF 1932 and use for South America flights.
Before the metered stamps were used by mail in other countries and in Germany only by Firm "Siemens"on the basis of a special agreement.
I show the postcards from my collection with metered stamps of two first flights - 3.SAF and 4.SAF 1932 both with Berlin connection.

Best regards,
pasol.

There are two types of german metered stamps on Zeppelin mail:

1) as above, a common type without brand name and features, logos and slogans;
2) as below, a particular type with brand name and features, logos and slogans;

...well-known case of using together the metered stamp and zeppelin stamp by Firm Sieger for 3rd SAF 1933 Zeppelin mail. ;)

pasol.

Hello Pasol & members. I own a few of these pieces of mail with the Meter stamp on, in my opinion they were mostly used on the 1932 "4 SAF" & also the 1936 "1. NAF" (TIDE WATER POSTCARDS). Here are three "TIDE WATER POSTCARDS" from my collectiion with the Meter stamp on, and also added is the special issued "50 (Pf) "Hindenburg" which was issued for this flight (1936 1. NAF)

Hello. Here are two more examples of Zeppelin mail that i own with the Meter stamp on, both of these pieces (Cover & Postcard) were sent by the "H.E. SIEGER, LORCH, WURTEMBERG, GERMANY". A similar Postcard from this flight (1932. 4 SAF) is also shown by pasol ;)

Dear TALLTREES,

thanks for support. Your items show the Deutsches Reichpost correct tarif for standard letter 1,50 RM and for standard postcard 1,40 RM for Zeppelin mail to Brasil.
But my postcard of 3rd SAF 1932 shown above is overfranking 1,95 RM instead 1,40 RM. 8-)
Why :?: Is it an additional franking (+0,55 RM) for this destination - Chile and for other countries of South America :?:

Regards,
pasol.

Hello pasol. I agree with you on that this is a very interesting subject as there is not a lot of Zeppelin Metered mail available on the market to collect, unfortunately all the pieces that i have shown are all the Metered pieces of Zeppelin mail i own :( , but from now i will continue to look out for this type of mail and if i am fortunate on finding more i will post them on this thread ;) . (I have seen on the News in my Country the very bad floods that you are having in Berlin & Passau, hope everything is OK.)

Dear TALLTREES,

thank you for quick response and the words of encouragement :!: We shall overcome :!: :D
Till next visit ...
...now under thread... 8-)
I think the beginning of using the metered stamps on Zeppelin mail from April 1932 was a successful advertising action of the "Francotyp GmbH" company :idea: , simultaneously with an advertising card and special metered stamp (Absenderfreistempel) for philatelic Spring Festival in Berlin. I don't see the 4th SAF 1932 Zeppelin mail with this metered stamp before... :roll: Can anybody show :?:
"Francotyp GmbH" dominated in this business area from the middle of 20s and until the end of the 2nd World War on the market.

Best regards,
pasol.

Hello pasol & members. Having looked again through my collection i came across this Metered cover which were Issued during the construction of the new Airship "GRAF ZEPPELIN 11" i know that it was not sent by Zeppelin but it is related to Zeppelin postal history. This cover was sent by the "Deutsche Zeppelin - Reederei" (German Zeppelin Shipping Company), and shows on the Meter stamp the new Airship "GRAF ZEPPELIN 11". In one of my catalouges it states that these types of Metered pieces of mail were issued beetwen 1937 - 1938, but this cover has a much later Metered cancel of the "1.6.39", and also a "FRANKFURT MAIN" hand stamp cancel of "1.7.39" :? .
