HINDENBURG MAIL ?

HINDENBURG MAIL ?

Beitragvon TALLTREES » 20. Mai 2010, 09:27

Hello again. Having looked through my collection i came across a cover which at first sight looked just like ordinary Hindenburg mail then i looked closer in to this cover and when i did the facts don't add up. It was flown from "TENINGEM" Postmarks dates " 09. 10. 38 ", and it was addressed " VIA ZEPPELIN LZ 129 " to NEW YORK, it has both set's of "AIR BIRTHDAY CENT OF COUNT ZEPPELIN" postage stamps and one "100pf Hindenburg" postage stamp. Now this is my question why has this cover got "HINDENBURG CONFIRMING POST MARKS" :?: when the Hindenburgs last flight was on the 3.5.37 and this cover is dated (09.10.38) and this must be the correct date as the Birthday cent of Count Zeppelin postage stamps on this cover were issued on the "5th july 1938" this is fourteen months after the Hindenburg exploded. So could any member please explain which flight this Cover took :?: .
Thanks again

Hello TALLTREES,
it's a pity. but it's fake. And men, who made it, don't know LZ-129 Zeppelin's history, which ended 06.05.1937.
I show the real LZ-129 confirmation stamp (BSt), which used only for some first flights (See Si.# 401, 402).
Regards,
pasol.

Hello again pasol. I thought as much as all the details on the cover don't add up, i forgot to add that there is "NO" backstamps on the Cover do you think that it ever arrived in New York :?: as i got this Cover from a dealer in the USA.
Thanks again

Hello TALLTREES,
please be careful with dealers from USA and Italy. Some have more good feadbacks trading fakes.
Yours stamp has length only 28,5-29 mm instead 32,5 mm. I'm not expert, but I have some practical experience (more 20 years).

pasol.

Hello TALLTREES,
that's right, these are cards of early Hindenburg flights Si.# 401 and 402. In more cases they have not arrival stamp.

pasol.
